Hosted by in the park that carries the name of Fahim J. Minkah — an original member of the Black Panther Party in Dallas. Come for the food, the music and the kids' 3-on-3. Stay to meet the families and organizers doing prison support, and leave knowing one thing you can do this week.

Good to know

Is it really free?

Yes — entry, food, groceries, clothes, books and the tournament are all free. Nothing is sold at the tables.

Can I bring my kids?

Please do. Malcolm X Academy runs crafts, face painting and free children’s books all day. Children stay with a parent or guardian — the kids’ zone is supervised, not drop-off.

How does the youth 3-on-3 work?

. A parent or guardian registers each team and stays at the park while they play. If a bracket fills, teams go on a wait list in order. Photos of players are only shared with the guardian’s OK, and never with names.

Is it accessible?

The courts, tables and pavilion are on flat ground. Shaded seating is set aside near the program area. Need something specific? Tell us in your RSVP and we’ll plan for it.

What if it rains or it’s hot?

We’ll post any change at the top of this page and text everyone who opted in, by 8 AM on the day. Bring water and sunscreen — we’ll have a water station too.

Is this a protest?

No — it’s a community day in a public park.

Will I be photographed?

Organizers take photos for the campaign. We never publish names, and location data is stripped from every image. If you’d rather not be in photos, tell a volunteer at the welcome table.

Can I donate money?

The Jail Support table explains bail and legal funds and how to give through the organizations that run them. Please only give through links and people at official tables.
